  • Still a loser. ;)

I am no longer an unemployed loser.  I'm a gainfully employed loser! pleased

I work in a deli in a supermarket.  It's not too bad.  I've been there about a year now, and the only thing I would change is the amount of drama involved.  On both sides of the counter.  I've been finding that I trust some coworkers more than others.  Like a couple of the girls I worked with this weekend.  We talked, goofed around, and still got done 45 minutes early.

I'm not a fan of the closing shifts, but with the right people, like these two, it's so much more bearable.  I worked morning shift today and left when they and a couple other fun girls came in.  I was a little sad that I had to leave.  As tired as I was, I would've stayed longer.

After a bunch of shit that went down recently, knowing I have a handful of people I can trust and have fun working with is just so... refreshing!

  • So, it's been a while...

What?  About a year and a half?  Yeeaahh...

I decided I'd give it another go with Xanga.  I was kind of inspired by a girl I follow on Twitter.  She disappeared from there about the same time I disappeared from here.  About a week ago, she just started tweeting up a storm, as if she hadn't been gone for that long.  That got me thinking about sites I just kinda stopped visiting, and this one instantly came to mind.

So, Xanga... Old friends... Random people... What do you say?

    Will you take me back?

    :)

  • Random YouTube find of the day

    Mmmm...  Mmm-mmm-mmm...  Default.

Fun fact:  This song was seriously my favorite song the whole of my 8th grade year.
(...And I may have been a little in love with the lead singer...)

The 2:34 mark of the video.  Love the bald guy rubbing his head in the middle of his solo.

I still love this band.  Something about late 90's/early 00's music...

  • WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE???

Why do I not recognize some of the people on my friendslist?  Have I been that out of it?  Do I just not remember adding you?  Did you completely change your identity?  Why don't you talk to me?  Why am I still asking irrelevant questions?

    Meh...

What's up, Xanga? (oops, another question...)  It's been a while.  I have been up to...  not a lot.  Sorry.  Wish I could tell you that I've been busy with such thrilling and unimaginable adventures (and I'm sure I could make something up), but I got nothin'.  Just looking for work, hanging out, all that jazz.  Don't worry, there has been stuff to talk about, though. pleased

I went to a family reunion a while back.  It was a pretty good turn-out; about 50 or so people.  We have such a big family (this was my grandfather's side and he was one of nine kids) and we're so spread out across the country that it was really nice to see that many people make it out.

This is my mom's generation, dubbed "the cousins":

And this is my generation, which I guess would be called "the second cousins":

(if you don't know/really want to know, I'm the one in the tye-dye)

It was a really fun day.  I guess there were activities planned, but everyone was just content to just sit and talk and catch up.  The reunion lasted six hours, but it only felt like two or three.

Y'know, since I was 12, people would always think I was years older than I really was.  For example: On my 20th birthday, all the girls in my unit at camp thought I was turning 30 (did not make me happy).  I've just gotten used to it.  But one of my mom's cousins, who has met me before (when I was really little), thought I was only 15 or 16 and couldn't believe that I was 22.  I think it was really surprising on both ends.

Hey, I just looked at my calendar.  Guess what?  It's October!  You know what that means?

    Hockeyyyyy...

Yay!  New season!  Excitement!  Yeah, the Penguins dropped their first game in their new arena to the Flyers.  Meh...  Just one game out of 82.  Plus, they lost the first game in the Igloo back in 1967, so...  Whatev. whatevah  Looking forward to Saturday, now.  Montreal's back in Pittsburgh.

So, I joined a fantasy league for this season.  The specific league I'm in gave me a list of about 100 players to choose from and it was kind of a random list...  Yeah, there were the big stars and whatnot, but some players just appeared out of nowhere on that list.  Totally random.  Anyway, after the first day of the season, my team is on fire!  ...not.  Seven people on my team played, one got an assist.  And that was it.  Another 'whatev' on that one.

Oh!  And if at any point this season, you happen to see press photography of Max Talbot, Evgeni Malkin, or Pascal Dupuis with no hats and/or sporting facial hair more than five-o-clock shadow...  Send me the link, please?  It might help the team I have in a fantasy league that has nothing to do with stats.  I had a few sentences typed up about it, but then I realized that without a complete description, it sounds pretty weird and insane.

I've recently re-found my crocheting niche, and I am on a kick, right now.  If you want a blanket, hat, scarf, or something just let me know.  We can talk about designs, colors, prices, etc...

Okay, I've rambled enough for now.  Hopefully, I can find out who some of you are...

  • Hey...

I've just been having a rough time, lately.

My family's been cleaning and clearing out my grandma's house in the 'burbs, getting it ready to sell.  Today was the last day that I'll ever be at that house.  This morning was really emotional for me and my mom.  My grandpa built that house when he left the military in World War II, and my grandparents lived there for over 60 years.  My aunts and my mom all grew up there.  I spent a lot of my childhood there.  I also spent a lot of time there when I was in college, including during the one J-term class I took.  Just so many memories...  It's just really hard to face the fact that I'll never be there again.

We also just found out that my aunt's cancer (that she's been fighting off and on for a number of years) has spread to her brain.  I don't know much more, but it doesn't sound good...

So, yeah...  Hasn't been a good few days...

Just letting everyone know what's been going on and why I really haven't been around too much...
